Well good morning, Race fans. As the dust settles on another great weekend of racing at Big O Speedway. Mom’s Birthday Celebration was a big hit with the fans. I find it difficult to convey on paper the enormity and excitement of the racing last Saturday night. With nine (9) classes racing there was something on tap for everyone. Once again, we had the Gunslinger Outlaw Modifieds on the track as well as our eight (8) weekly classes. The turn out in cars and the spectators was great and the racing was awesome. The USRA Limited Modifieds showed up with numbers and some local hard hitters for the class were there and ready. Once again, this week the racing scheduled flowed, and the action was endless and running as scheduled the heat races were over and we were ready for the features quickly. Some lucky fan got to take home $225.00 from the 50/50 drawing Remember you can’t win it if you’re not in it.
After a brief intermission we turned the USRA Limited modifieds loose for their 19-lap feature and it was a dog fight from the beginning with the season veteran Eric Luttrell parking his #11 in front of the new victory lane backdrop. With Elliot Davis and Mason Martin forcing the issue throughout the race.
The USRA factory Stocks took to the well-prepared racing surface with vengeance with Michael Bowles in the #40 taking the lead with 10 to go in the 19 lap feature to outlast stiff competition from Jimmy Gore #21 and Colton Tanner# 96t. Nate Dixon in the #10 was a strong competitor until mechanical problems caused him to park it.
Not to be out done, the Gunslinger Outlaw Modified Series hit the Speedway on fire and ready to burn up the racing surface. Kevin Roland #4R won the $2,500.00 for the thirty (30) lap feature. Max Eddie Thomas in the #82 was pressuring him as well as James Mccreery #13j . The 4th place Dustin Robinson deserves a mention for coming up 11 places as well as Dylan Glass, Troy Taylor, Dennie Geiber, Jeff Needham and many more.
The reigning points champion of the Thunder Cars continued her winning was with back to back feature wins. Peyton Bowles in the #40 showed she will be a force this year. Jeff “the birdman” Byrd after a sometime off last season showed he is still a stronger competitor with a close 2nd and Michael Potocki drove to 3rd.
Taking the speedway next for a 30 lap feature was the high powered UMP Late Models with a very competitive group this week. Danny woods ,in the #55 was a rocket winning with Troy Taylor in the #1K leading most of the race finishing 2nd and Jim “the MOONMAN” Moon pressuring the leaders to finish in 3rd. Ortanik Mikel moved up 2 positions to finish 5 behind Dalton Spear.
The youngsters in the Hornets remember this is a beginner/learning class for 10-17 year olds. With newcomer Zachary Cleghorn in the #14c out lasting #O8K of “The Kidd” racing in memory of NA NA placing 2nd in front of the 4th generation racer Gerald Larson lll in the #5 bg. Was good to see a large turnout of Hornets as they provided some great racing.
The ECO Limited Mods provided their usual entertaining race. With any of the cars having the ability to win it was a aggressive race from start to finish with James Riddle edging out the other top four racers that being Dustin Sprouse #22XX, Devon Bowles #4d, and Dillion Richards #19R. John Skinner deserves mentioning is was in the flail until a front straight away incident put him on the trailer. Both Gerald “ BOY BOY “ Larson and Charlie Alder #97 drove great races.
George Luedtke took the Interceptor trophy over the last time out winner Christanya Nold; however, he was DQ and the win went to Christanya.
The USRA Tuners was our final class to run their 19 Lap feature. With Boddy Cannon placing 1st and Jonathan Chatterly in 2nd and Cody Cleghorn rounding out the top 3. Cleghorn led from start to finish.
Well in closing if you want the best bang for your entertainment dollar join us every Saturday at Big O Speedway “Americas Hometown Speedway” .
